In the world of business there is a lot of laziness. I am not talking about couch potato lazy but rather going to work and not working, going through the motions, or spacing out. This kind of practice takes time to develop. You sit at your desk, you surf the internet, check your social sites, catch the updated news on your team there is a certain form of art that can be composed from this practice. After a while a routine develops that is the kind of art in business gets you one thing, FIRED!!! In football there is a great safety net that points laziness out and keeping you in check. We call it "Check the Tape." You space out or go through the motions in practice its all on TAPE! THE CAMERA IN THE SKY NEVER LIES! Coaches dedicate hours and hours to watching film. They are looking for the flaws, the cracks, the LAZY. A Coach who can execute and correct against those flaws are called a "FOOTBALL GENIUS!"
In business, your employer will not have a camera watching your every move in the office. Your employer probably does not have millions to invest in you So you are your own enforcer. You have catch your lazy routine. Maybe you should video tape yourself for a day and see how much time is wasted on spacing out, going through the motion or not working. Even I am not immune to being lazy but sometimes you just have to stop review the tape and correct yourself.
